Wizz Air reports 16% increase in July 2016 traffic

Wizz Air has reported a 16.2% increase in passenger traffic for the month of July 2016 to 2,285,601 on the back of a 16.2% increase in capacity to 2,465,720 seats. The load factor for the month was flat at 92.7%.

In the past 12 months to end July 2016, Wizz Air traffic increased by 20% to 21,174,354 passengers on the back of an 18.4% rise in capacity to 23,930,500 seats. Load factor for 12 months to end of July was up by 1.2 percentage points to 87.3%.

In July 2016, Wizz Air launched nine new routes to/from Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, and has opened its sixth Romanian base in Iasi with one A320 aircraft.  The airline’s fleet has increased to 71 aircraft with the delivery of a brand new A321ceo aircraft. Also during the month, Wizz Air has received Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and has signed $2.5 billion contract with Pratt & Whitney to supply next generation engines for our future A321 neo aircraft.
