Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air carried nearly 63 million passengers across 300,000 flights during 2024.
During the year, Wizz launched almost 100 new routes and received delivery of 34 aircraft, growing its fleet size by 15%. Out of 226 aircraft in Wizz Air’s fleet, 146 are brand-new Airbus A320/21neos.
The airline completed 99.5% of its scheduled flights, achieving the third-best result among all European airlines. Wizz also improved its on-time performance, becoming the second most punctual airline in the UK.
Throughout this year and into early 2026, Wizz Air expects to receive 50 new A321neo and A321XLR deliveries, increasing the model's share of the Wizz fleet to 77%.
In addition to its 2024 operational results, Wizz, along with Airbus, Moeve, and Brussels Charleroi Airport, completed a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) trial, operating over 50 flights using a SAF and jet fuel blend under the EU’s mass balancing model.
The trial highlighted the feasibility of SAF integration while underscoring the need for infrastructure upgrades and cost optimisation. A media roundtable in Charleroi emphasised collaboration and increased public awareness as key to advancing low-carbon aviation.
