Volaris carried 13.88 million passengers in the first five months from January to May 2023 recording a 14.8% increase as compared to same time last year as per the latest traffic reports. Volaris reported a rise of 35.6% in international passenger segment as the airline carried 2.98 million passengers in 2023 versus 2.20 million last year.
The airline carried 10.89 million domestic passengers in the first five months of 2023, recording a 10.1% growth versus 2022.
As of June 2023, the airline has three branches in Mexico, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. In Mexico, Volaris operates with a fleet of 117 Airbus A320. In Costa Rica, it has five aircraft, and three in El Salvador.
Volaris also announced the launch of 40 new domestic routes across Mexico marking the airline’s largest ever announcement. The new services will focus mainly on the regional markets rather than larger hubs such as Mexico, Tijuana, or Cancun
Enrique Beltranena, President and Chief Executive Officer said: “We are proud to have recently launched 40 new routes, successfully connecting underserved cities with leisure and bus-switching routes, further solidifying Volaris' leading position in the domestic market; notably, 33 of these new routes have no air competition.”
