Mexican low-cost airline Volaris transported 2.8 million passengers in July, up 3% from figure reported during the same period of the prior year.

Available seat miles (ASMs) rose by 6% last month. However, revenue passenger miles (RPMs) remained largely flat. The carrier saw a slight decline of 0.4% in domestic traffic, while international RPMs rose modestly by 1%.

The airline’s average load factor dropped by five percentage points on the same month of the prior year to 84.9%.

Company president and CEO Enrique Beltranena said the airline's third quarter is performing as expected. He pointed to strong domestic performance and strategic moves to prioritise profitability over volume on international routes.

“This result also reflects year-over-year ASM restoration, including the recent addition of capacity in July, which will continue maturing throughout the second half of the year in both the US and Central America,” added Beltranena.

Volaris added that the broader market is showing signs of gradual stabilisation, with airline capacity now more closely aligned with passenger demand trends.
