Vietjet has reported an air transport revenue VND51.7 trillion ($2.03 billion) and a consolidated revenue of VND52.2 trillion ($2.05 billion) for the first nine months of the year. This shows revenue increases of 32% and 19% respectively when compared to the year prior.
Vietjet posted a separate after-tax profit of VND1.13 trillion ($44.58 million) and a consolidated after-tax profit of VND1.4 trillion ($55.16 million) for the period, marking a substantial increase in comparison to the first nine months of 2023, with increases of 884% and 564%, respectively.
The airline's total assets reached nearly VND94 trillion ($3.7 billion), supported by a debt-to-equity ratio of 2.25 and a liquidity ratio of 1.4. Vietjet also reported cash, bank deposits, and cash equivalents totalling nearly VND 3,997 billion ($158 million), bolstering its liquidity position.
Additionally, Vietjet has paid nearly VND5.56 trillion ($219.4 million) in direct and indirect taxes and fees over the first nine months of 2024.
During the third quarter of the year, during the period between July and September, Vietjet welcomed its 200 millionth passenger, with the airline describing this as a “significant milestone" in connecting Vietnam to the world.
In terms of operational results for the first nine months of the year, Vietjet transported over 19.6 million passengers, an increase of 6% when looking at the comparable period of the year prior. Vietjet operated a total of 104,000 flights during the period, this is again an increase compared to levels seen in 2023, rising by 2%. The airline’s fleet consists of 85 aircraft, with Vietjet achieving an average seat utilisation rate of 87%.
Vietjet transported a total of 88,964 tons of cargo over the past year, marking a 73% increase when compared to the same period of 2023, securing more than 10% of the freight market share among Vietnamese airlines.
During the nine-month period Vietjet signed a $7.4 billion contract with Airbus to purchase 20 A330neo wide-body aircraft, marking a significant expansion in the airline’s fleet capacity. Additionally, Vietjet reached an agreement with Rolls-Royce for the supply of 40 Trent 7000 engines and TotalCare maintenance services to power the airline’s new fleet of A330neo aircraft.
