Vietjet enters joint venture with Qazaq Air to form new airline

Vietjet has acquired a stake in Kazakhstani airline Qazaq Air, forming a joint venture to create a new carrier which will operate a fleet of 20 737 aircraft.

The new venture named Vietjet Qazaqstan, is part of Vietjet’s international expansion strategy, aiming to deepen bilateral ties between Vietnam and Kazakhstan.

Under this partnership, the two parties will jointly develop and operate Vietjet Qazaqstan which will operate as a low-cost airline, Vietjet confirmed. 

Additionally, the new joint venture has signed a customer services general terms agreement with Boeing, to support the future 737 fleet operated by Vietjet Qazaqstan. As part of the new agreement, Boeing will provide comprehensive services including software solutions, spare parts supply, technical assistance, as well as training programs for pilots and engineers.

The Vietnamese airline did not state how large the acquired stake in Qazaq Air is.
