Vertical receives £8 million from UK government
Vertical Aerospace, designer and developer of the VX4 eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing craft), has received £8 million ($10 million) in grant funding from the UK government via the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) Programme. This will be used to further develop the next-generation propellers aboard its aircraft. This is the fourth grant awarded to Vertical by the ATI, bringing total UK government grant funding for the project to £37 million ($47 million). Industry minister Nusrat Ghani MP commented: “This exciting sustainable propeller project is a fantastic example of our commitment to the world-leading aviation sector”. “With the support of the ATI Programme and other consortium partners, this project will keep the UK and Vertical at the forefront of aerospace innovation, electric aviation, and urban air mobility” added Vertical founder and CEO Stephen Fitzpatrick, who recently committed to invest a further $50 million into the business. The ATI Programme is co-ordinated and managed by the Aerospace Technology Institute, the Department for Business and Trade and Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation.
