VAS to tear down four additional A380s
VAS Aero Services and Dr Peters Group have announced the placement of four A380 aircraft with VAS for reclamation and redistribution of used serviceable material (USM), bringing the total number of A380 aircraft for teardown the companies have collaborated on to eight. Since VAS initially partnered with the investment fund management firm and aviation asset lessor on the first ever A380 to be dismantled, the pair have worked on a further three aircraft since 2020. “Our history of turning to VAS Aero Services made this an easy decision for us,” highlighted Christian Mailly, managing director – head of aviation of Dr Peters Group. “With the resurgence in the reliance on the A380 increasing the need for quality USM parts, the timing is right for retiring end-of-life A380 aircraft and monetizing the residual value of their serviceable parts,” he added. VAS will manage teardown of three of the aircraft through its partnership with Tarmac Aerosave, based in Tarbes, France. The fourth will be dismantled at Asia Pacific Aircraft Storage in Australia.
