The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into a United Airlines flight operating between Lagos and Washington DC on January 24, after sudden aircraft movement resulted in passenger and cabin crew injuries.
The NTSB said that the incident occurred on-board United Airlines flight 613 as the plane was flying within Ivory Coast airspace. United said the flight to Washington Dulles with 245 passengers, three pilots and eight flight attendants, returned to Lagos after the unexpected aircraft movement and a technical issue.
The 787-8 landed safely in Lagos, with four passengers and two flight attendants being sent to hospital for minor injuries and have since been released, reported Reuters.
The Bureau Enquêtes et Analyses of Côte d'Ivoire delegated the investigation to the NTSB. A preliminary report will be published by the NTSB in 30 days.
