US Department of Transportation Secretary, Elaine L. Chao has reportedly asked new Federal Aviation Administration head Stephen Dickson to assess the agency’s performance in the wake of the two fatal crashes of Boeing's 737 Max jets.
Reuters is reporting that Chao added that she has asked Dickson “to assess the performance of the agency and the results of the ongoing investigations to make recommendations about any needed reforms.”
Meanwhile, Dickson is reiterating the position of his predecessor, acting FAA chief Dan Elwell, that the 737 Max "will not fly in commercial service until I am completely satisfied that it is safe to do so. FAA is following no timeline in returning the aircraft to service."
There is still no word on when the 737 Max jets will return to the skies.
