During the month of November, US scheduled airlines consumed a total of 1.49 billion gallons of fuel, according to data from the US Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
The figure shows that 5.4% less fuel was used during the month in comparison to October and 3.3% more was used in comparison to pre-pandemic November 2019.
The cost per gallon of fuel in November totalled $2.31, up 0.9% from October 2024 and up 16.1% from November 2019.
On an annual basis, domestic fuel consumption during November 2024 dropped in comparison to the same period of 2023 by 1.2%. Domestic fuel cost saw a 24.3% decrease in addition to a 23.3% decrease in cost per gallon, when comparing to figures from the year prior.
