Planned strikes over pay by border officials at six British airports could affect around 10,000 flights and two million passengers over Christmas, according to numbers crunched by aviation analytics firm Cirium.
The Public and Commercial Services Union in the UK said on December 7 that the strikes, which are to come amid a wave of similar walkouts to be staged by up to 100,000 other civil servants, would run for 8 days between December 23 - 26 and December 28-31.
London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow airports would be affected, the union said in a statement. Robert Jenrick, the minister of state responsible for immigration issues, said the strike plans were "indefensible".
