TUI Group selected the GEnx-1B engine to power an additional Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. TUI Travel and GE also expanded a TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement for engine maintenance, repair and overhaul services to include these new GEnx-1B engines. The engine order and TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement are valued at more than $120 million (USD) list price and over the life of the contract.
"With this additional engine order, TUI Group's GEnx-powered 787 Dreamliner fleet will grow to 17 aircraft after deliveries in the next two years," said Tom Chandler, Director of Fleet Management and Fleet Finance, TUI Group. "The GEnx-powered Boeing 787 Dreamliners have helped TUI Group's airlines continue to grow their long-haul business and allow our customers to reach new and exciting leisure destinations."
"TUI Group was the launch customer for the GEnx engine on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner," said Chaker Chahrour, vice president and general manager of Global Sales & Marketing at GE Aviation. "The GEnx engine powers TUI Group's entire fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, and we are honored with the confidence TUI Group has in the engine line and GE Aviation.
