European tour operators have repatriated thousands of European tourists from Tunisia following the civil unrest that deposed president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali on Friday.
Thomas Cook and other package tour groups began flying customers home from Friday, which continued throughout the weekend to ensure all passengers were repatriated as soon as possible. Several European airlines are canceling flights to the region. Thomas Cook has cancelled all trips to Tunisia until at least January 21.
TUI Deutschland, the tour-operator unit of TUI, has been evacuating all of its approximately 1,000 guests from Tunisia over the weekend, and it too has canceled all trips to the country until January 24.
British Airways said it was reviewing its services to the country and advised passengers to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.
