Tony Douglas quits his new role as CEO of Saudi Arabian start-up RIA

Just within a couple of months into his new role as the CEO of Saudi Arabia RIA, Etihad Airways former CEO, Tony Douglas resigned from the role, reports Arabian Business. The airline is planning to launch operations within the next few months and is on a lookout for a new CEO.

According to sources, Douglas did not give a reason behind the abrupt exit. Douglas left his post as the CEO of Etihad where he was credited with implementing successful cost-cutting strategies to reduce the airline's losses.

Meanwhile, the new Saudi Arabian start-up RIA is a part of Saudi Arabia's 'Vision 2030' and is known to be planning a large aircraft order, including 40 A350s and option for more through its sister SAUDIA.

As per its latest announcement in November, RIA planned to launch before the end of 2022, but the launch is expected in the next few months.
