Tiger Airways posts loss of S$14m

Tiger Airways Holding has posted a net loss of S$14 million for the second quarter narrowing the S$21 million loss recorded in the year-ago period.
Revenue was up 1.4% $181 million, which was driven by a higher yield that increased by 7.8%, and was offset by a 4.5% decline in capacity and lower passenger load factor of 83.3%. Total expenses rose by 1.2% to $193 million.
“The Group’s financial performance is gradually coming back on track with Tiger Singapore turning in an operating profit of $4 million this quarter,” Tiger CEO Chin Yau Seng CEO said. Tiger Australia’s operating loss narrowed from $23 million to $21 million this quarter, he said.
