Three members of Latvian flag carrier airBaltic's supervisory board will step down next month, the Latvian Ministry of Transport said in a statement to local media.
Chairman of the supervisory board Klavs Vasks, as well as two other members Kaspars Ozolins and Andris Liepins, will step down.
The decision was reportedly a mutual one and was made to drive change in the company. It comes as the company looks to make a public offering, which is expected either this year or potentially early 2026. Vasks reportedly told outlets that discussions with the government had been “painful” surrounding the initial public offering (IPO).
The relationship between the government and the airline had grown contentious — particularly after the airline was forced to cancel nearly 5,000 flights in its upcoming summer schedule as a result of engine maintenance delays.
