The Abra Group - parent company of Avianca and Gol – has completed the acquisition of European charter and wet-lease operator Wamos Air.

The acquisition was completed in accordance with an agreement reached in May between the Abra Group and Wamos Air.

“We are very pleased to announce that the strategic investment in Wamos Air by our Group is now a reality. This development is consistent with Abra’s consolidation strategy, which seeks to bring together iconic companies,” said Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of the Abra Group.

He added: “The airlines in our group, such as Avianca and Gol, are leaders in their markets and business models, so welcoming Wamos Air makes perfect sense and aligns with our goal of better connecting Latin America to the world in a simple, accessible, reliable, and sustainable way.”

Like Avianca and Gol, Wamos will continue to maintain its leadership, brand, teams, culture, and operations.

Enrique Saiz, CEO of Wamos Air commented: “We are very satisfied to have completed this transaction, which marks the beginning of a new chapter for Wamos Air. The Abra Group is a key industry reference, and we are extremely proud to say that, as of today, we are part of it. This is an exciting journey ahead for the company, allowing us to pursue new business strategies, growth, and consolidation while continuing to focus on our wet lease business, flying for the world’s leading airlines.”

Wamos Air currently operates a fleet of 13 A330-200/300 aircraft.
