Thai Airways is all set to relaunch its key Chinese routes to Beijing and Shanghai, after a three-year pandemic induced hiatus.
The Chinese market is one of the most important sources of income for Thai Airways with Chinese visitors making up for the largest inbound traffic in Thailand since the pandemic.
The airline will resume its Bangkok to Beijing thrice weekly and Bangkok to Shanghai four weekly flights from March 2023. The pre-pandemic capacity was double daily.
Going ahead, the airline plans to add additional A350s to its fleet of 12, with 2 expected to arrive this year.
Prior to the pandemic, the airline flew to other cities in China, including Kunming, Xian, Chengdu, and Guangzhou.
The airline posted an operating profit for 2021 and hopes that the addition of Chinese capacity will further boost its revenue.
The airline also hopes to return to its pre-pandemic capacity of double daily flights to popular Chinese destinations soon.
