Teesside ditches 100ml limit and laptop removal requirement at security screening

Teesside Airport in the north-east of England has claimed to be "the UK’s first to entirely do away with the 100ml limit on liquids when passing through airport security".

The amount has been lifted to two litres after the airport installed two "cutting-edge" C3 scanners, which also remove the need for creams and cosmetics to be placed in separate bags and for laptops and other electronic items to also be taken out ahead of scanning.

The announcement came ahead of a mid-2024 deadline set by the UK government for the country's airports to remove the security scanning limitations.

“Once again Teesside is at the forefront of developments in the aviation industry, with our C3 scanners in place and already being used in the roll-out of the new rules, coming into force elsewhere next year," said Tees Valley mayor Ben Houchen.
