Due to its investment in a new airline with Singapore Airlines, Tata Realty and Infrastructure (TRIL) will not be able to bid for the project to privatise Chennai airport because the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India requires that no related company holds an equity interest that exceeds five per cent in an airline firm.
TRIL has asked the Ministry for a waiver so that it can participate in the bidding process.
