Himalayan Jet, backed by Boeing plans to launch commercial flights by September 2023

Himalaya Jet, a new UK-based start-up is planning for a commercial launch towards the end of 2023 by positioning itself as a premium service provider of long-haul flights to Nepal and India from Europe and eventually expanding to US and even Australia.

Himalayan Jet as the name suggests aims to reduce the cumbersome transit while traveling to the Himalayan Regions by offering better direct connectivity.

Himalaya Jet’s aviation journey is being supported by Boeing, that played host to a visit from the Gurung family, a conglomerate from Nepal. The family is a majority stakeholder in Himalaya Jet.

The ‘StartupBoeing’ team will be assisting the airline team from concept through launch by offering guidance, review, analysis, data, resources, contacts, and referrals.

The Gurung Family runs luxury businesses across the world and also recently became the co-owner of the Miss World pageant, visited the Boeing headquarters on April 26 to discuss the future of the airline.

The tour offered a simulated bespoke experience themed around the Himalayas. There were some progressive discussions followed by a dinner hosted by Boeing,” the airline said in a statement.

With plans on starting operations by September 2023, the airline will commence operations between Nepal, India and UK. Nepal is home to some of the highest mountain peaks in the world, including Mount Everest with massive tourist influx from across the globe. Prior to pandemic, about 30,000 French tourists visited Nepal, along with an additional 100,000 travelers from other EU member states. Himalaya Jet hopes that its flights from Paris and London will offer better connectivity to European travelers and contribute to the region's economy.

The airline’s entry into service is seen as a game-changer for Himalayan air travel.
