TAP sees Brazil-Europe traffic return to near pre-Covid numbers

Portuguese carrier TAP said on Tuesday that from January to September it flew "97% of the total number of all customers flown in 2019 between Brazil and Europe".

The revival of traffic to near what it was three years ago, before the industry faced an onslaught of pandemic-linked travel curbs and lockdowns, saw TAP over the summer also fly what it said was "double the number of customers as its competitors between Brazil and Europe".

Half a million passengers flew on such flights over the three months to October, TAP said, up 223% on a year ago, driven in part by TAP's range of access, to 11 cities in Brazil.

Iccardo Dinis, TAP's country manager for the UK & Ireland, said the airline was "pleased to be our customer’s first choice for flights between Europe and Brazil thanks to our unique route network which offers easy and quick connections between flights at our Lisbon hub".
