Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has blocked Norilsk-based Taimyr Airlines from acquiring a 47.8% share in Arkhangelsk-based Nordavia Airline.
The deal was blocked because Taimyr is controlled by Norilsk Nickel and Nordavia is ruled by companies related to Norilsk Nickel.
FAS said in a statement that the deal could lead to competition restriction, which would give Taimyr a dominant position on several regional routes, including Arkhangelsk-Naryan-Mar and Murmansk-Arkhangelsk.
