SWISS banking on winter travel demand for long-haul expansion

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is to add to its range of long-haul winter services to Miami, Shanghai, Singapore and Cairo.

“SWISS is currently experiencing a lot of demand and a still strong desire to travel, despite all the economic and political uncertainties,” said chief commercial officer Tamur Goudarzi Pour.

Frequencies to Miami will be doubled from summer 2023 levels to “up to 14 weekly flights”, the airline said in an April 26 announcement, adding that "Shanghai in China will return to receiving six-times-weekly service this winter, three frequencies more than have been offered during the present summer season".

Singapore will revert to a daily SWISS service after it clocks up one more weekly flight, while Cairo will get a daily arrival and departure.

The flights are to depart Geneva and Zurich, the carrier said.
