Swedavia reports strong air travel growth in December and full year 2025

Passenger traffic at Swedavia’s ten airports continued its recovery in December, rising 8% compared to the same month in 2024. Stockholm Arlanda Airport led the surge with a 14% increase, including a 40% jump in domestic travel. International traffic at Arlanda was up 9%, surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 5%.

For the full year 2025, Swedavia recorded a 2% increase in total passenger numbers versus 2024, driven by stronger demand for both international and domestic travel. Arlanda saw nearly 7% growth overall, while Göteborg Landvetter posted a modest 2% rise. Northern airports such as Kiruna and Luleå reported double-digit domestic growth, setting December records.

Swedavia expanded its network significantly during the year, adding eight new airlines and 37 scheduled routes, including 23 at Arlanda. New destinations included Phuket via Norse Atlantic and Zurich to Luleå via Edelweiss. Freight volumes also grew by 5%.

CEO Jonas Abrahamsson expressed optimism for 2026, citing continued airline investment and an expected economic upturn.
