Steven Udvar-Hazy Jr. has joined Alaska Airlines as head of fleet strategy & planning, he shared on LinkedIn on July 30, 2025.
“I've long admired the people and culture at Alaska Airlines, and it's an honour to now be part of the team,” he said in his post. “I'm excited about the company's direction and grateful to be working with such talented aviation professionals. Looking forward to helping shape the combined fleet strategy of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, and contribute to what's ahead.”
With Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines to combine their operations in Hawaii with the carriers obtaining a single air operators certificate (AOC) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) this autumn, Alaska Air Group disclosed its Honolulu leadership team.
Hawaiian Airlines' current senior vice president of technical operations Jim Landers will assume the role of head of Hawaii operations. He will report to the airline's CEO Joe Sprague. He will be responsible for safety and operational performance while supporting all aspects of the combined operations in the islands.
The company said it will also soon name its head of Hawaii guest operations and will join the company in tandem with the company receiving its combined AOC.
“We all look forward to continuing to deliver greater value to our kama‘āina and visitors through our expanding, joint network with Alaska Airlines, a new combined loyalty program arriving in October, and much more in the months and years ahead," commented Sprague.
Honolulu is the company's second largest hub after Seattle.
