STARLUX Airlines orders an additional five A350F freighters

Taiwan's STARLUX Airlines placed a firm order for an additional five A350F freighter aircraft, doubling its initial commitment for the aircraft type.

This order follows the airline’s initial purchase of five A350Fs last year, after signing an agreement for them at the Singapore Airshow in February.

Glenn Chai, CEO of STARLUX, said the decision to double its order of freighter aircraft reflects the airline’s view of the cargo market as a “key element” of its business strategy, citing the benefits of Taiwan’s geographical location, as a significant advantage in connecting key global cargo markets.

“The A350F is the perfect choice for STARLUX, offering a similar payload-range capability as previous generation freighters, but with very significant reductions in fuel consumption and carbon emissions,” added Chai.

Currently under development, the A350F can carry a payload of up to 111 tonnes and can fly up to 4,700 nautical miles.

To date, STARLUX operates a fleet of 26 Airbus aircraft including A321neo, A330neo and the A350-900 aircraft.
