ST engineering has signed a five-year CFM LEAP engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) contract with Korean Air. The contract will support LEAP-1B engines that power Korean’s fleet of 737 MAX aircraft.
The Singapore-based MRO provider will perform quick-turn services including high pressure turbines (HPT) as well as performance restoration shop visit (PRSV) services to the airline’s LEAP-1B engines.
This is the first time ST and Korean Air have entered a partnership together, with Tay Eng Guan, head of engine services at ST Engineering, stating that this agreement will help support the airline’s “long-term” growth plans.
Korean Air placed an order for 30 737 MAX jets at the Paris Air Show in 2015 and expects to operate a full fleet by 2028.
