SriLankan Airlines resume flights to China

SriLankan Airlines is all set to resume commercial flights to China starting from April 2023 with thrice weekly flights to Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. China was a major source of inbound tourism for Sri Lanka prior to pandemic and the airline is banking on the tourism sector for financial revival.

The airline expects a lot of business from China and is already getting inquiries for these services.

The airline will commence commercial flights to Shanghai and Beijing from April 3, 2023.

The airline currently operated weekly flight between Colombo and Guangzhou, with plans to start a second flight from April 4, 2023.

SriLankan Airlines’ China market was drastically affected during the pandemic. It still continued to operate two weekly services to Guangzhou during the pandemic but is now ready to expand further in a couple of months.

Some of its other services in Asia include daily flights to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, and three weekly flights to Tokyo and two to Seoul.
