Spirit AeroSystems to sell Malaysian facility in $95 million deal with CTRM

Spirit AeroSystems has agreed to sell its aerospace facility in Subang, Malaysia, to Composites Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM) for $95.2 million.

This transaction was entered into following the previously announced merger agreement with Boeing and subsequent definitive agreement with Airbus.

Located within the Malaysian International Aerospace Centre, the Subang facility spans 45 acres and includes 400,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The site employs more than 1,000 workers and provides aerostructures assembly and integrated supply chain services for both Airbus and Boeing platforms.

"Our agreement with CTRM for the acquisition of this important manufacturing facility ensures a strong future for this business as well as the regional stakeholders in Malaysia," said Irene Esteves, Spirit AeroSystems executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Following the sale, CTRM is set to become a key supplier to Airbus for its A220, A320, and A350 programs, and to Boeing for its 737 and 787 programs - further strengthening Malaysia’s position in the global aerospace supply chain.

The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025 pending regulatory approval.
