SpiceJet is offering 75% discounts on base fare for tickets booked between April 1 to June 30. The bookings have to be made by February 26. The slashed ticket prices look set to spark yet another price war in India as competitors will be forced to offer similar discounts.
SpiceJet’s chief operating officer Sanjiv Kapoor has denied prompting a fare war and called the action “basic customer segmentation and inventory and revenue management".
"These advance purchase offers are a win-win for airlines and customers as it leads to demand stimulation and airlines reduce wastage of seats that would otherwise fly empty.
