SpiceJet has recently settled its liability issues with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC). The lessor has leased several Q400 propellor aircraft to SpiceJet. The airline issued a statement saying that it has entered into an agreement with NAC, settling all past liabilities.
SpiceJet currently has five Q400 airplanes leased from NAC and is in the process of adding three more of the type from the same lessor.
In a statement, the airline said: “These three planes had been repossessed by the lessor. The induction of the three planes in addition to the fleet revival and restoration program launched by the airline would result in a substantial addition of planes in the SpiceJet fleet in the coming weeks.”
SpiceJet uses the Dash A400 on small and underserved airports in India under the Indian government’s UDAN scheme that offers subsidiaries on these services.
Going ahead, the airline is planning to increase its fleet size with an agreement of ten leased B737s, deliveries starting September 2023.
