SpiceJet pilots depart in droves

Indian media outlets are reporting that around 40 SpiceJet pilots including commanders have resigned during the past six months and that auditors of the airline have cast doubts over the its continued performance.  SpiceJet have reported its fifth straight quarter of net losses for the July-September period. Pilots leaving the airline state that the uncertainty of the airline is compelling them to leave now to avoid a repeat of the debacle with Kingfisher.

SpiceJet seems to be feeling the impact of the loss of so many pilots, since it is has reduced its fleet by 10 planes from 48 to 38 over the past few months and flights have been delayed or cancelled. The airline has not confirmed or denied any of these reports, however.

Auditors SR Batliboi & Associated are reported to have flagged concerns mainly that the companies total liabilities exceed its total assets by Rs 1,459.7 crore.
