Southwest airlines has appointed Rakesh Gangwal to its board of directors.

Prior to this new role at Southwest, Gangwal co-founded low-cost carrier IndiGo in 2006 and served in executive roles at Air France and United Airlines.

Gangwal is the eight new director to join the airlines board of directors in the past three years.
