SmartLynx to restructure fleet and transition to single-type operations

Aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) provider SmartLynx Airlines is to restructure its fleet, transitioning to single type operations.

The company said that this transition will be carried out gradually, with the goal of achieving a unified fleet composition by mid-2025.

In the last five years, SmartLynx has expanded its fleet from 12 to 66 aircraft. Looking ahead to 2025, SmartLynx will focus on operating Airbus family aircraft, managing a fleet of A320 and A321 aircraft, while also scaling down its A321F freighter operations.

“To sustain our growth and align with our group's strategic goals, we believe now is the right time to make decisions that will further strengthen the company in the long term,” said Edvinas Demenius, CEO of SmartLynx Airlines.

Currently SmartLynx has a fleet of both Airbus and Boeing aircraft, noting it will partially reallocate assets within the group.
