SkyWest Inc., parent of SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines, has reported a net profit of $9.6 million during the first quarter of 2015, compared to a net loss of $22.9 million in the year-ago period. Revenues slipped by 1.6% however to $760.4 million. SkyWest’s first-quarter expenses decreased 9.2% to $726.3 million, with operating profit up to $34.1 million compared to a $27.8 million operating loss in the 2014 reporting period.
Traffic declined 4.2% during the three month reporting period to 6.97 billion RPMs on a 3.3% drop in capacity to 8.69 billion ASMs. The company’s load factor was down 0.7 percentage points to 80.2%.
