Lessor Avolon has delivered its 100th Airbus A320neo, with Philippine carrier Cebu Pacific the recipient.
The aircraft is the second A320neo Cebu Pacific has taken from the Irish leasing business, with the third due later in May, which will take the carrier to 12 Avolon-sourced jets in its fleet.
“As one of the largest A320neo family aircraft customers, today’s announcement marks an important milestone in our long-standing partnership with Airbus," said Paul Geaney, Avolon's president and chief commercial officer.
Avolon is on track to hit a target of 75% of its fleet being made up of the so-called new technology aircraft by 2025. It has committed to buying 184 more of the A320neo range, said to deliver 20% fuel savings and CO2 reduction compared to older Airbus models.
"We are looking forward to completing this delivery order with Avolon, which will help further strengthening our position as one of Asia Pacific’s leading low-cost carriers," said Alex Reyes, Cebu Pacific's chief strategy officer.
“The delivery of this latest A320neo aircraft reflects our continued progress towards our goal of transitioning to a more fuel-efficient fleet," Reyes added.
