Air transport technology provider SITA has launched a new global messaging solution, aiming to streamline the way air traffic control (ATC) communications work.
The new technology, SITA ATC Connect, will enable flight information sharing between airlines, airports, ground handlers and air navigation service providers through a unified messaging platform, with the aim of streamlining flight operations.
The company said the new platform can be easily integrated, fully supporting a move from legacy aeronautical fixed telecommunication networks to modern air traffic services messaging handling systems.
Martin Smillie, senior vice president for SITA Communications and Data Exchange said that a mix of legacy and modern air traffic systems in different markets globally adds “unnecessary complexity and delays” to air navigation.
“SITA ATC Connect automatically adapts to different air navigation communities worldwide with an innovative, single global communication connection that is both quick and secure,” he added.
The company said that technology will also automatically reroute traffic to avoid operational disruptions or delays.
