The chairman of British Airways Martin Broughton announced that more than 99% of shareholders, including proxy voters, had approved to merge with Iberia. In Madrid, Iberia shareholders also voted in favour to create International Airlines Group (IAG).
IAG will be registered in Madrid, while International Consolidated Airlines Group based in London which will own the BA and Iberia operating companies, which will sit above IAG. The airlines will preserve their brands, national identities and flying rights.
