Saudia has announced four new international routes as a part of its 2023 expansion program. The airline has partnered with the Saudi Air Connectivity Program (ACP) and the Saudi Tourism Authority to further improved air connectivity and greater access to target international markets.
The airline will introduce new routes to Beijing, Birmingham, Kano and Johannesburg.
Ali Rajab, CEO, ACP said: "The opening of four new air routes across three different regions is the result of strong collaboration between the Saudi tourism and aviation ecosystems. These new routes offer a diverse mix of travel opportunities in the Kingdom, unlocking its rich cultural heritage and inviting travellers from around the world to experience the beauty and diversity of this remarkable destination.”
Ibrahim Koshy, CEO, Saudia, emphasised the airline's ongoing dedication to investing in operational growth. He said: “We are dedicated to optimising our modern fleet to meet current and future expansion requirements. These are much-needed initiatives that can help boost Saudia's global market presence, streamline and simplify the travel experience and improve the overall travel experience for its guests.”
The airline has set ambitious plans to expand its international network as a part of its Vision 2030 reform program. As a part of this, the airline plans to increase its number of destinations to 200 by 2025.
The airline is also investing heavily in new aircraft and modernising its fleet to enhance the customer experience. Saudia operates a mixed fleet of more than 100 aircraft, including the A320, A330, A340, B777, and B787.
Apart from expanding the international destinations, Saudia is also focussing on ramping its domestic network through its subsidiary Flyadeal.
