SABRE HOLDINGS RAISES BOOKING FEES FOR AMERICAN AIRLINES

Global travel reservation system Sabre Holdings has announced it is increasing booking fees for American Airlines. The company said in a statement that it was “taking actions to protect its interests and those of its customers by supporting airlines who value the transparency and efficiency of the proven system we provide”.

This is the latest move in a dispute between Sabre and the airline industry. The latter wants greater control over how their tickets are marketed and packaged with other services such as car rentals and hotel reservations and lower distribution costs. American Airlines has been the most vociferous proponent of this which accounts for Sabre’s action in a bid to protect its own revenues.
