Ryanair said it has launched its "biggest ever Knock schedule" with a flight from the west of Ireland airport to Lanzarote.
"This summer, Ryanair will operate over 120 weekly flights to/from Ireland West Airport Knock driving invaluable inbound tourism and offering its West and North-West customers unbeatable choice and the lowest fares when booking their summer holidays", the carrier said in its announcement.
"This has been by far the most requested service over the last couple of years and we are finally delighted to be able to welcome Lanzarote back to our route network for this summer," said Joe Gilmore, the airport's managing director.
"This is just one of the 16 exciting routes we are operating to/from Knock this summer alongside other popular sunny hotspots like Alicante, Barcelona and Malaga," said Jade Kirwan, Ryanair’s head of communications.
The announcement came the same week as rival Aer Lingus ditched its popular Knock-London Gatwick route in favour of a move to London Heathrow, Ryanair flies from Knock to London Stansted and London Luton, meaning travellers between the west of Ireland and the UK have three airport options to the north and west of London but none to the south after the removal of the Gatwick route.
