Budapest Airport has confirmed that Air Canada rouge will launch a thrice-weekly service to Toronto. Significantly boosting the Hungarian gateway’s connections to Canada, the leisure carrier will commence operations from 10 June 2016. Utilising its fleet of 767-300s, Air Canada rouge will be offering an additional 840 weekly seats to Canada, complementing existing services with Air Transat to Toronto and Montréal.
Commenting on the new route development, Jost Lammers, CEO, Budapest Airport, says: “Let me first of all congratulate the teams of both Air Canada rouge and Budapest Airport for making this new route a reality. They have worked tirelessly and extensively together, and we are very proud to welcome the Air Canada brand into the portfolio of Budapest Airport. This new route will connect travellers from Budapest not only to Canada, but a series of other North American destinations, in both business and leisure sectors.”
Monthly passenger traffic at Budapest has continually shown double-digit growth this year, with the period end-August recording a 15% increase.
