Ryanair is set to open a new base at Tirana International Airport in April 2026, the low-cost carrier confirmed, marking a $300 million investment as it continues its expansion of operations in Albania.
The base will include three 737-800 aircraft and support over 3,000 local jobs, including 100 new roles for pilots and cabin crew. It will operate more than 450 weekly flights across 33 routes, including ten new destinations such as Birmingham, Dublin, Milan, Malta, Naples, Pescara, Poznan, Trieste, Turin and Verona.
The move will boost Ryanair’s annual passenger traffic in Albania to 4 million, just two years after the airline began flying to the country in November 2023.
The expansion comes as part of a longer-term plan to base up to six aircraft in Tirana by 2030, bringing total investment to $600 million and increasing annual passenger capacity to 5 million.
Ryanair said its continued growth in Albania depends on the government maintaining low access costs and zero aviation taxes to support traffic and tourism growth.
