Ryanair could delay deliveries of new Boeing aircraft if they increase in price due to newly imposed tariffs by the US, Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary told the Financial Times.

“If tariffs are imposed on those aircraft, there’s every likelihood we may delay the delivery,” said O’Leary.

Ryanair is due to receive 25 Boeing aircraft from August, but the airline does not need the planes until March or April of next year.

“We might delay them and hope that common sense will prevail,” the airline boss added.

At the beginning of January, Ryanair said it is expecting to take delivery of 29 new 737 aircraft in 2025, as part of a $3bn investment in new aircraft, which the airline expects will create more than 2,000 new jobs across Europe.

The Dublin-based carrier said it will allocate the new aircraft to Sweden, Italy, Spain, and Poland, countries where the airline notes that governments are “actively promoting” aviation growth.

As of April 8, 2025, Ryanair has a fleet comprising of 594 737 aircraft.
