The UK’s Competition Appeal Tribunal has rejected Ryanair’s application that claims the UK competition authorities do not have powers to investigate Ryanair’s 30% shareholding in Aer Lingus. The UK Competition Commission will therefore continue its investigation into whether Ryanair’s shareholding in Aer Lingus threatens competition in the British airline market and if sanctions should be applied.
