Low-cost airline Ryanair has been awarded an ‘A-‘ rating on climate protection from the CDP, an international non-profit that runs an environmental disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions.
“We are delighted to be awarded an ‘A-’ rating by CDP. This rating reflects Ryanair’s industry leading CO2 emission intensity and our ambitious emission reduction strategy,” said Ryanair’s director of sustainability, Thomas Fowler.
Progress on what the carrier describes as its ‘ambitious decarbonisation plans’ in 2023 included the delivery of its new 737-8200 aircraft, offering 4% more seats and a 16% reduction in C02. Ryanair continues to work with fuel partners to accelerate SAF supply across Europe as well as funding aviation decarbonisation research through the Ryanair Sustainable Aviation Research Centre in Trinity College Dublin.
