Aer Lingus is all set to restart its pilot training program called the ‘Future Pilot Training Program’ since 2019. As a part of the program about 90 aspiring pilots will get pilot training and an opportunity to work with Aer Lingus. The program is fully sponsored by Aer Lingus and successful candidates will undergo a 14-month training program in collaboration with a Spanish flight training school.
The airline is particularly focussing on female recruitment as part of efforts to close the gender gap in aviation.
The airline is planning to recruit 18 candidates this year and is now accepting online applications until August 16, 2023.
Expressing excitement for the new program, chief executive Lynne Embleton said: “The Aer Lingus Future Pilot Programme opens a world of opportunity for the next generation of pilots who will join our airline. Aer Lingus’ transatlantic expansion and Dublin Hub growth strategy, means there are opportunities for new Aer Lingus trained pilots to join our team of Captains and First Officers who currently fly to over 80 European destinations, and to 14 North American destinations on our long-haul network.”
Aer Lingus will fully sponsor the training course, and successful candidates will undergo a 14-month training program combining theory and practical studies, working in collaboration FTE Jerez, Spanish training school. Graduates will receive a Multi-crew Pilot’s Commercial License, leading them to become a First Officer and ultimately a Captain for short and long-haul routes.
