No-frills carrier Ryanair is to operate seven summer routes out of Kerry Airport near the south-west tip of Ireland, with Alicante, Frankfurt, London and Manchester among the options to be offered
The airline will add 7% capacity to the routes, it announced on January 23, news that will likely be warmly received in the county of Kerry, where recent local council meetings have seen concerns aired about the airport's viability after attempts to establish flights to and from Amsterdam failed to get off the ground.
Kerry, one of Ireland's most scenic regions and home to popular visitor draws such as the Skellig Islands and Lakes of Killarney, sits between two bigger and busier airports in Cork and Shannon.
